Tru Oil is a very forgiving finish and everyone will find a way that works best for them. I wipe it on with a piece of old cotton t-shirt and spray the last coat or two. Its unique blend of linseed and natural oils dries fast and will not clou yellow or crack with age and resists water damage. The blending result is hit or miss though.


Trying an oil stain on the top. I grained filled with timbermate first and just did the first coat of tru oil. I got these winton oil colors from the art store. They are crossed linked with linseed oil.

It has more in common with wipe-on polyurethane than it does an actual oil finish (like pure tung or linseed oils, etc.) TO is good stuff and one of my personal favorite finishes, but the name is a bit ironic.
