It’s the kind of ceiling that you can see different images in every time you look at it. Another point to consider is that drywall textures take practice. A stipple ceiling texture, also called a slapbrush texture, involves working wet joint compound with a stipple brush.

Stippling creates a random design that hides minor ceiling flaws and imperfections. Ceiling Texture Types Job throughout the ceiling in training programs, overlapping each program by relating to in. Complete each program in passes. Beginning at one side of the ceiling in addition to quit a number of feet from the wall surface area. Afterwards drag interior from the in contrast side to complete the program.

The Buckster Bow Saw was inspired by a now defunct. Review top bow saws and pick one that meets your needs. There are foldable bow saws as well as lightweight hand saws that you can place in your backpack and use it while camping to cut branches and make a fire. Sven- Saw Folding Wood Saw Combining the convenience and portability of a folding blade with the sturdiness of a bow saw , the Sven- Saw is an intriguing option for a camping wood-cutting tool.

The folding format makes this an easily and safely packable saw , but the structure adds a bit of strength not found in its other folding brethren. Most bow saws can fold and disassemble for transport and then be put together to get the best of both worlds – portability and performance. This folding bow saw set, discovered by The Grommet, has a smart, portable design: it folds down flat.

Use this folding saw while camping or kayaking, to cut down your Christmas tree, or just to. Mineral wool batts

Our advanced manufacturing technology ensures consistent product quality, with high-fiber density and low shot content for excellent performance. It costs about about to more than fiberglass, but I feel its benefits more than justify the additional costs. Today, Thermafiber mineral wool resists fire and temperatures in excess of 000˚ F while also providing sound control and energy conservation. The semi-rigid batts are more dense than traditional batts and rolls, and are quick and easy to install. The “binder” is the bond that holds our glass mineral wool product together and gives the product its shape and brown color.

Compared to mineral wool batts , the spray foam does a good job sealing all air gaps where sound can leak, but doesn’t have the near the density of mineral wool for sound insulation. The kind of foam that in a rigid foam (closed cell) doesn’t do much good for sound mitigation, but the kind that dries in a spongy state (open cell) is better. Shiplap fireplace

A round black mirror is mounted to shiplap trim between two Boston Functional Library Wall Lights lighting a chunky reclaimed wood mantle fixed above a fireplace accented with a slate surround. When we moved into our new home we had this huge problem. Yes, all the way up to the foot ceiling.

A flat panel television is hung from a white shiplap fireplace over a rustic wood mantel, while beside the fireplace three black and white photographs are hung from a gray wall over a gray accent chair. Shiplap Fireplace is rated 2. This project was a beast that took us many months to complete but it is absolutely and completely finished and I couldn’t be more excited! I was shocked at how beautiful the material was, looks just like rustic barn wood and goes beautifully in our home! Once the shiplap and tile were added to the fireplace , it was time to add the finishing touch – a DIY mantel. It truly turned out better than it looked in my mind and I feel like a little kid who just got the coolest toy ever.

This is a shot from the Magnolia BB on HGTV’s Fixer Upper. I saw it and immediately fell in love with the idea of doing the fireplace in shiplap. We didn’t want to replace the actual fireplace insert we have, although one of these days we are painting the brass on it! Sometimes good things come to those who wait.

R value of materials

R value of materials

In simple terms, R-values measure the effectiveness of insulation and a higher number represents more effective insulation. R-Values of Common Building Materials ! The values below are some of the more common R-factors for surfaces found on buildings in the U. Fiberglass Blown (attic) 2. Rock Wool Blown (attic) 3. Cellulose Blown (attic) 3. It is sometimes denoted RSI-value if the SI (metric) units are used. An R-value can be given for a material (e.g. for polyethylene foam), or for an assembly of materials (e.g. a wall or a window). R - value is a measurement of thermal resistance and measures the ability of heat to transfer from one side of an object to another.

As a benchmark, one inch of solid wood has an R - value of 1. The thermal resistance or R - value of polystyrene foam board depends on its density. Polystyrene loose-fill or bead insulation typically has a lower R - value compared to the foam board. The overall R-value of a wall or ceiling will be somewhat different from the R-value of the insulation itself because heat flows more readily through studs, joists, and other building materials , in a phenomenon known as thermal bridging. These are Generalised R-value numbers for many types of building materials.

These values may not be accurate for your building material.

Insulating hot water pipes

Starting at the water heater, measure lengths of insulation needed to cover all accessible hot water pipes , especially the first feet of pipe from the water heater. Insulation stops cold water pipes from sweating when moisture in the air condenses on their cold surfaces and drips in problem areas. It prevents hot water from losing its heat as it flows through the pipes from the hot water heater to upstairs bathrooms and laundry areas. And to wrap it all up, back to the pipe insulation … There is one part of the hot water pipes that should always be insulated. Hot water in the tank often floats into the pipes when hot water isn’t being used.

This is a result of poor design in American water heaters. Really, just how exactly is a material made to help resist the flow of heat outward or inward magically going to heat the water aka raise its temperature? A higher delivered water temperature means that you have the option to turn your water heater down by a few degrees. To prevent water pipes from freezing in cold weather: Open cabinet doors under sinks located on outside walls.

Leave hot and cold water dripping in faucets. Put foam covers over outdoor spigots. Insulate water pipes with foam pipe insulation. Watch this video to find out more. Also insulate the first three feet of water pipe entering the hot water heater.

Wiring a transformer

Wiring a transformer

A three phase transformer or 3φ transformer can be constructed either by connecting together three single-phase transformers , thereby forming a so-called three phase transformer bank, or by using one pre-assembled and balanced three phase transformer which consists of three pairs of single phase windings mounted onto one single laminated core. Suppose you must install another transformer (15kVA 480V 3-phase, 3- wire to 240V 3-phase, 3- wire ), serving five small adjustable-frequency drives (AFDs) for a packaging assembly. Connections to this type of transformer are basic-three wires into the high side (H H and H3) and three wires out from the low side (X X and X3).

European and North American wiring is discussed. A step-down transformer is one in which the primary voltage is higher than its secondary voltage. It is mainly designed to lower the voltage from the primary.

A relatively safe way to test transformers is to hook up a small AC voltage (1-5VAC) and measure the voltages across the other windings. Attach the two black wires from the transformer to the 1VAC power supply wires. One supply wire will be the black voltage wire , attached to the fuse or circuit breaker.

Most new homes come equipped with doorbells and there can be for the front and for the back door. When connecting transformers , you may have to connect them to single- and 3-phase power sources as well as single- and 3-phase loads.
