Bois d ascese

As it dries down, I noticed the warmth in the incense, and a cleaner campfire smell. Think bonfire in autumn, sipping whiskey and leather boots. There is a leathery nuance, perhaps with the addition of birch tar, while any tobacco or whiskey note is lost on me. It does not contain many notes and does not develop much staying linearly smoky throughout, but unlike so many smoky scents on the market that get the scent of real smoke wrong, this one is absolutely a reference scent when it comes to presenting what an actual wood burning.

There is just a hint of cinnamon and whiskey to give it a bit more rounded sensation. The smoky incense dominates and pushes everything else to the back. Je suis assez d ’accord avec Belami. As well as tangy and peaty facets, there’s a sticky, slightly sweet, labdanum resin that oozes golden amber out of the smoky blackness. The smoke is prominent but there is a remnant of the woo now ashes in the firepit, lurking underneath the smoke. It is available as Eau de Parfum. Bois D’Ascese is one of my all time favorite perfumes. I wear it a great deal during the winter months.
