Staining cinder blocks

Apply the stain to the cinder blocks , beginning on one side of the wall. Use circular motions when applying the stain , going clockwise and then counter-clockwise over the area. Test for absorbency and texture. Concrete should be rough and absorbent before it is stained.


You want the concrete blocks to have a consistency like 120-grit sandpaper. Water sprayed onto the concrete block should soak into it. Typically concrete blocks are rough and absorbent. The first step to staining block is to test the stain you are planning to use in order to verify the color turns out how expected.
