As the wood dries, it cracks extensively, we have cut away all those cracks (over of the boards) to produce these pieces. It is difficult to get good lengths like this in ziricote which is drie defect free and has good appearance. Very fair prices on the high figured ones and almost unbeatable prices on the good ones.


The wood is dense and heavy so be prepared for a little more weight. The sound is rich and smooth. This is one of the most aesthetically interesting of all tonewoods. A small red purfling is laminated between the ziricote binding and the resonator, neck and head stock. This creates a smooth line that borders the banjo and frames the figured wood.
