Ziricote lumber

The wood tends to develop end and surface checks during drying, which can be problematic: though the wood is stable once dry. Extreme grain with burl in it – this board measures 3” wide at one end and 4” wide at the other end. Outstanding material – highly visual eye candy and some of the best ziricote available! Ziricote S2S board – Savage Select Material! It is a har dense wood , with a medium texture.


The color ranges from reddish brown to dark brown with unusual black streaks. The heartwood is dull brown with irregular dark brown and black streaking, and the sapwood is creamy white to light golden tan. Contains irregular wavy grain, sometimes with a three dimensional appearance. Its widely used for custom stringed instruments as well as inlay work on small furniture or jewelry boxes.


This is our sandscapes wood. Its rich, dark color and variegated patterns yield fine woodworking projects, not to mention its smooth, high glass-like polish for woodturning! Tonally it is similar to striped ebony, but brighter. Deep boomy sound with sparkly highs.


Ziricote lumber

A favorite wood for classical, Baroque, flamenco, and other fingerstyles. The pores are small, and overall the wood is very reminiscent of rosewood. In fact, it is extremely rare and highly sought after.


The grain of ziricote is unmistakable. Few veneers display such an interesting blend of darker colors arranged in a very chaotic pattern. Available in soprano, concert, tenor, and baritone models. Also, pieces are usually available in narrow boards or turning squares, with sapwood being very common. Wood The wood of several Cordia species is commercially harvested.


Ecuador laurel ( C. alliodora ), ziricote ( C. dodecandra ), Spanish elm ( C. gerascanthus ), and C. Central and South America. On rare occasions, the wood ’s natural oils can interfere with the gluing process. The pale yellowish sapwood is sometimes incorporated into designs for aesthetic effect, or to cut down on wastage.

High end architectural installations. As the wood dries, it cracks extensively, we have cut away all those cracks (over of the boards) to produce these pieces. It is difficult to get good lengths like this in ziricote which is drie defect free and has good appearance.
