Copal shutter

C opal Brand shutters have been made in their current version by Copal Co, Tokyo, Japan for about fifteen years. Supplied with all new view camera lenses made today, they are simple, reliable, and economical. Copal is a Japanese company making camera shutters and based in Tokyo. The Copal MXV shutter is easily released from the lens mounting plate by unscrewing the taking lens barrel from the back of the shutter assembly.

This is compared to another COPAL MXV shutter and a nikon F(those two seem to be pretty much spot on). The shutter speeds are a bit slow BUT they are steady. So instead of secon I get 1. No shutter - get one Copal Sinar Shutter for all your barrels! The Sinar Copal shutter fits Sinar cameras (and some others that use the Sinar standard). This shutter is a few years newer so you can see slight design changes in a couple spots but basically the same shutter.


Also, some Copal shutters from Schneider have aperture click-stops. These shutters are modified at the factory and Schneider has chosen not to make their parts available. As a result, we cannot repair broken click-stops.


But we can restore the shutter to its original Copal condition without click-stops.
