Martin hpl

HPL is a wood product derivative. Kraft paper is layered using phenolic resins and put under pressure to form a very stable product. Like formica countertops, a top layer of plastic with a photoimprint is also glued on for the finish.

Martin ’s auditorium body is famous for defining the balanced acoustic guitar tone, with the right amount of bass, midrange, and treble frequencies. If you want to replace the bridge you will have to get one through an authorized Martin repair center. Pairing the Sitka spruce top with the rosewood-pattern HPL back and sides, the custom 000X1AE Rosewood produces full, even tone, with all the sustain you have come to expect from a Martin guitar. The mortise and tennon neck joint ensures solid construction of the guitar, with optimal resonant tone, while eliminating drop-off in the finer dynamics.

The OMCXAE Black is constructed from Jett black high-pressure laminate ( HPL ) to make a very durable, affordable, great sounding guitar. And with Fishman Sonitone electronics, this guitar is just waiting to be enjoyed. Then, get ready for the fun part as Darrell presents a blind test challenge featuring the RainSong, the Stonebridge and a third guitar—a Martin X Series acoustic made with High Pressure Laminate ( HPL ). HPL sounds good and is extremely durable – it’s a special pressed wood-ish substance that is made specifically for manufacturing guitars.

Like all of Martin ’s X-series instruments, the 000X1AE’s back and sides are made of high pressure laminate ( HPL ), which consists of wood particles pressed together under high heat with special resin and given a “photo finish” to resemble real woo in this case, mahogany. The instrument’s body is comprised of a solid Sitka spruce top ensuring a vast, balanced tonal projection. The sides and back are made of exclusive, environment-friendly HPL Koa wood.

The body is held together by the identical Hybrid X bracing pattern found in the brand’s flagship models. Martin HPL (0XCE) I played a 000XCE yesterday and was completely impressed with the guitar. I had a Martin with HPL many years ago and it was ok. IMHO though, any decent solid wood back and sides guitar sound better volume and tone wise.

You can purchase many imported solid wood guitars for $4and up and they do sound real good. Martin makes the 000Xlargely through the crafty use of alternative materials. The back and sides are high-pressure laminate ( HPL ), the fretboard is crafted from Richlite, and the neck is made from Stratobond—a many-layered laminate that takes on a cool psychedelic fanning appearance at the heel. Martin was one of the first leading guitar manufacturers to produce quality smaller size guitars, initially with the Little Martin and now with the LXKwhich are now increasingly popular among women and adolescents.

HPL , or High-Pressure Laminate materials are becoming more commonplace in guitar construction. As a guitar construction material, there are a lot of advantages. This is one of the newer Martin guitars featuring a top constructed of high pressure laminate material ( HPL ). Martin Guitars, in particular, have a line made partially, or almost completely, from HPLs. The guitar came in with the bridge beginning to lift from the top. While the repair method is similar, the materials of construction and adhesives used on these guitars require some different techniques to be employed.

The resilient HPL ( high pressure laminate ) bodies are made to. Before you start rolling your eyes, we have to say that Martin ’s HPL and your average laminate are nowhere near the same thing. In other words, D12X1AE shouldn’t be discarded based solely on the presence of HPL.

But over time, can literally melt the glue off. HPL does react better to humidity and temp. And the top of the Martin 000x1ae is solid spruce so there is some wood in there.

Another dreadnought in the X series, the DX1RAE has a solid spruce top for bright, articulate sound and beautiful HPL Indian rosewood-patterned back and sides. The LXKmodel features koa high-pressure laminate ( HPL ) back, sides and top. It is ideal for travel, student practice or for just playing around the house or campfire. This model includes Sustainable Wood. Compared with a somewhat cheaper Morgan W 3SCE.

Also demonstrated with a cheap crappy transducer. The HPL that Martin uses must work differently to other laminates. But I am now definitely keen to play two x series guitars against each other (with all else being equal, shape, cutaway etc). Thanks again for clearing this up and thanks for visiting the site.

That was his fault, though, and if it had been sleeping in decent humidity at night, it would have been totally fine. I also think it had been living at humidity levels below for extended periods. Great Martin Sound Received my guitar about a week ago.

My 2Taylor cost me the same amount but is hpl sides and back. The Martin has a much more mellow sound compared to the brighter Taylor. It was perfect right out of the box!

Martin very prominently identify HPL ( high pressure laminate ) as building material, and they have done so for years. And yes, low end guitars from all over have been made out of all kinds of stuff not used on the flagship Martin models.
