A board and batten accent wall. It is super easy to install that this girl accomplished this all by myself (since hubby was battling a migraine). Well, I did have a little helper…my year old helped me hold things like the measuring tape and the end of the wood while cutting. This feature is not available right now. Nail the trim to the bottom (removing existing baseboard to give a clean, cohesive look) this will become the baseboard.
To give the DIY board and batten wall a finished look, we applied caulk to the gaps. The next day, after the caulk was dry, I gave the boards a quick sand and then painted the boards and wall. Each wall is a different length. We have a large basement family room from the 80’s with tongue and groove walls …one of the room has verticle tongue and groove on the lower portion and dry wall on top. Adding board and batten moulding really took this room makeover to the next level.
I love the monochrome look of painting the walls , bookshelves, and trim all the same color. But the empty walls (without bookshelves) definitely needed something to bring it all together.
