Spackle for walls

What is Spackle or Spackling ? It is a gypsum based product that usually comes premixed and has a consistancy similar to drywall compound. Remove excess spackle with a putty knife and sandpaper. Place your knife at an angle to the wall at the edge of the spackle layer and scrape it across the wall to remove any excess spackle and create an even surface. Taping drywall can be a frustrating, gut-wrenching experience. Nagging flaws will show up right after painting and even months later. Nail pops, corner-bead cracks and bad joints will plague your walls forever. Taping sheetrock is a basic task that helps give a room a more finished look.


By taking the time to tape sheetrock prior to priming and painting the wall surface, the seams between sections of the sheetrock become very difficult to detect. Improve your drywall taping skills and increase your speed with these taping tips. Mix the setting compound and completely fill all wide gaps.


Keep the fill flush with the drywall surface. To tape and mud drywall , use a drywall knife to spread a liberal amount of drywall mud into the seam between drywall boards, then run the trowel over the freshly-mudded sections.
